About the Role

Our Toowoomba Community and Aged Care team are currently seeking an experienced Bus Driver on a part time basis.  The successful applicant will be required to provide safe bus transport for HACC eligible clients in the Darling Downs Community to assist independent living, enhanced lifestyle and transport.

This role also requires the Bus Driver to provide an appropriate level of social support to the clients being transported and provide assistance to team members within the Community team as required.

In addition, you will be responsible for delivering safe scheduled bus trips and outings as directed by the manager and assist clients at outings and functions.   You may also assist the team to organise bus outings from time to time.  You will need to be available from the hours of 7.30am – 4.00pm, Monday-Friday, however, trips and outings do not run on all these days.

You are required to have: 

  • Experience driving a bus with an exemplary driving record;
  • A current first aid certificate and unrestricted Queensland “LR Class minimum, MR or HR preferred” Class Licence;
  • Well developed interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to communicate sensitively with elderly people, people with disabilities, and people from non-English speaking backgrounds;
  • Demonstrated ability to work without close supervision and within a team environment;
  • Knowledge and skills to use safe people transfer and mobilising techniques; and
  • Demonstrated ability to perform minor bus maintenance (e.g. change tyres, maintain tyre pressures, fuel and oil levels, clean the vehicle, schedule bus servicing as required).

Experience working with the aged and people with disabilities in a community setting is preferred but not essential.

To be successful you are required to hold and maintain a current National Police Certificate at your expense or be eligible to receive one prior to commencing.
